Privacy Policy

The association Gesundheitsdatenraum Schweiz is committed to supporting the patient-centered collection and use of health data. This privacy policy applies to the use of our website. If you participate in our initiative or enter other contractual relationships with us, the respective data protection provisions apply.

This privacy policy is valid only for our website. The website may contain links to external sites to which this policy does not apply. If you leave our site via a link, it is recommended to carefully read the privacy notices of each website.

Your trust is important to us, and we therefore comply with Swiss data protection laws and follow the recommendations of relevant specialist bodies, particularly those of the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). We adhere to the core principles of data protection law and ensure that only data with consent or a legal basis is processed.

1. Data Collected When Visiting the Website and Applying for Membership

The content on our website can be used without registration. For transparency, however, we inform you that we (in collaboration with an external service provider) collect data generated by users of our website to measure website performance. When applying for membership, we also collect data to initiate membership, including the applicant’s name and address.

2. Data Collected When Subscribing to the Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, you will be asked to provide your first and last name, email address, and, optionally, your affiliation. The data you provide will be used to inform you about our activities.

5. Newsletter Subscription

When you subscribe to one or more of our newsletters, we require your email address as we cannot send the newsletter otherwise. Additional data is optional. You will first receive an email with a link to confirm that you wish to receive the newsletter (“Double Opt-In”). This prevents someone from subscribing to the newsletter on your behalf. We analyze which links are clicked within the newsletter to tailor it to your interests and track when you read it so that we can send it at your preferred time. We store your newsletter subscription, consent to usage analysis, and confirmation to demonstrate that you have subscribed and consented. For the purpose of newsletter distribution and usage analysis, we store your data until you revoke consent or until the newsletter is discontinued. If you do not confirm your newsletter subscription, we delete your data after 24 hours. Please confirm your subscription (“Double Opt-In”) within 24 hours, or you will need to re-register.

6. Data Sharing with Third Parties

Data is only shared with third parties if you have given explicit consent, there is a legal obligation or permission, or if the sharing is necessary to assert, exercise, or defend legal claims. We use technical and organizational measures to protect your data from manipulation, loss, destruction, or unauthorized access by third parties.

7. Rights Regarding Your Data

You have the right at any time to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, revocation of consent, and objection. If you believe that your data processing violates data protection law, you may report this to us or the relevant supervisory authority. We only store personal data as long as necessary to provide the above services. Contractual data is kept longer as required by legal retention obligations.

8. Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy occasionally to comply with current legal requirements or to reflect changes in our services, such as introducing new services. The new privacy policy will apply on your next visit. We also regularly update the list of authorized representatives.
